TOKYO, November 2025 — The Indonesia Investment Promotion Center (IIPC) Tokyo facilitated a series of courtesy calls and strategic meetings with major Japanese stakeholders at the end of November 2025, reaffirming Indonesia’s commitment to deepening bilateral investment cooperation across key sectors.
The delegation from the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industry/BKPM, led by Acting Deputy for Investment Cooperation Tirta Nugraha Mursitama, engaged in discussions with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), the Organization for Small & Medium Enterprises (SMRJ), the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the Indonesian Business Association in Japan (APIJ), HIPMI Tokyo, and other strategic partners. Meetings were also held with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries (MAFF), Nippon Steel, ENEOS, and renewable-energy company BIRU.
These discussions focused on potential investment opportunities, regulatory developments, and incentive frameworks to enhance Japan’s outward investment into Indonesia.
A key highlight of the mission was the introduction of Teddy Modesto Situmorang, Chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI), who will soon undertake responsibilities in Japan to strengthen business networks and investment collaboration. His appointment is expected to bring renewed momentum to Indonesia’s economic diplomacy efforts.
During the engagements, IIPC Tokyo and its Japanese counterparts identified several priority areas for cooperation, including:
Strengthening supply-chain collaboration in the steel industry with Nippon Steel
Advancing future energy partnerships with ENEOS
Exploring modern agricultural cooperation with MAFF
Accelerating renewable-energy investment with BIRU
“These meetings represent a concrete step toward ensuring Indonesia remains a strategic investment partner for Japan in the Asia-Pacific,” said Tirta Nugraha Mursitama.

HIPMI’s incoming representative, Teddy Modesto Situmorang, reiterated HIPMI’s commitment to supporting Indonesia–Japan economic cooperation: “HIPMI Tokyo will expand communication channels, strengthen networking activities, and facilitate business-matching and investment roadshows throughout 2025.”
IIPC Tokyo affirmed that collaboration with HIPMI and Japanese institutions will continue to be reinforced to promote high-quality, sustainable investment into Indonesia. Long-term partnerships with Japanese ministries and industry leaders are expected to contribute significantly to economic stability, energy resilience, and technological innovation in both countries.
